Dr. Leo Valentin owns and operates a tele-radiology practice in Orlando. Before this, he served as President and CEO of Professional Hospital in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. As CEO, Leo gained invaluable business experience as he managed the hospital’s finances, worked with insurance companies to provide more assistance to patients, and led a technological overhaul of the hospital’s processes and procedures. He was also responsible for increasing the hospital’s hurricane readiness, resulting in the facility being prepared for Hurricane Maria and able to offer medical services to patients as the island continues to recover.
After growing up in Puerto Rico, Leo studied Computer Science at the University of Miami and went on to earn his M.D. at Ponce School of Medicine. From there, he continued his education at Cornell’s New York Presbyterian Hospital and the Baylor College of Medicine before becoming a Clinical Fellow in Vascular & Interventional Radiology at Harvard Medical School. After completing his medical training, he went on to NVIDIA Corporation, serving as a Global Healthcare Alliance Manager, where he designed business strategies for establishing partnerships with healthcare leaders and institutions. Through these experiences, as well as through managing a hospital, Leo learned first-hand how our country’s healthcare system is flawed and how it can be fixed to ensure citizens receive the best care for the lowest price.
While putting himself through medical school and training to become a physician, Leo managed to remain involved in Republican politics, first by working on Sen. Ted Cruz’s 2010 U.S. Senate campaign, then working on his 2016 presidential campaign, along with his wife, as a staffer at the campaign’s headquarters.
