Tyler Kistner is a born and raised Minnesotan who returned home after nine years of service as an Officer in the Marine Corps- most of those years in the Marine Special Forces unit, the elite Marine Raiders. Tyler came from humble beginnings, learning a strong sense of family values, professionalism, work ethic, and the importance of giving back to his community. He also became heavily involved in his church, where he built his faith in the Lord. It was during this time he met his high school sweetheart and now wife, Marie. Throughout college, Tyler served his community by being a church small group leader, a mentor, and a camp counselor.
Tyler attended the University of Minnesota, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in History. Upon graduation, Tyler accepted a Commission into the Marine Corps. While serving in the Marine Corps, Tyler earned his Master Degree in International Relations from New England College.
As a Marine Officer, Tyler deployed four times overseas, leading over 500 personnel, conducting counter-terrorism, direct action response, special reconnaissance, and anti-Russian/Chinese aggression operations. Tyler was then selected to serve on the Executive Staff for the Commanding General of Marine Special Operations Command working national strategy and policy with Congress on legislative issues.
God has put a determined passion in Tyler’s heart to serve his neighbors in political office and a sense of true servant leadership. He lives in Prior Lake with his wife, Marie, and their three-year-old daughter, Elodie.
